Hi, My name is Serena Nasworthy and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based here in Hawaii. This provider resides in Hawaii.
My approach
I am a firm believer in being flexible in approach as I feel it is an important part of meeting clients where they are at. By doing so, I ensure to really tailor the therapeutic approach to fit your needs and your goals. This has also given me the amazing opportunity of being well-versed in a variety of different therapeutic approaches. I encourage this process to be collaborative and strength-based as you are the most important piece in your healing journey!
My focus
I have worked with a wide variety of populations during my career; from dual-diagnosis adults to youth and teens struggling with severe mental health challenges to children as young as 6 years old and their families who are just trying to figure things out! I feel I thrive when serving any population or any client that is willing/ready to put in the work therapy requires.
My communication style
My natural communication style is listening empathically. I like to create a comfortability in sessions where you feel you can speak freely in a way that allows you to feel heard.
My journey to mental healthcare
Being born and raised in Hawaii, I became aware at a young age of just how prominent mental illness was in our community. With my passion for mental health care and determination to give back to my community, I have made it my mission to help others.
My goals for you
Setting goals for yourself is an important early step in the therapeutic process. I believe it is important for it to be a collaborative process. I can aid you in setting goals for yourself and working with you to achieve them. This is your journey and therefore, your goals should reflect what is important to you and what you want for yourself.
My first session with you
First sessions can be nerve-wracking, especially if it's your first experience with therapy! My goal in a first session is just to make you feel as comfortable as possible by taking things at your pace and allowing you to feel the safe space you are in. Once you get a feel for what sessions will be like and feel this is the right fit for you, things will come naturally. You will be surprised how good it can feel to be heard, to be validated, and to spend some time focusing on yourself and your healing.
