Hi there, I'm Kristien!

Greetings and welcome to Path! My name is Kristien Hollingsworth. I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read my profile. I understand seeking out a therapist can feel tedious, and in some cases, anxiety provoking. Evidence has shown the method of therapy is far less important than the relationship with your therapist. If you do not feel like you can openly share what you are experiencing or have been through in your past, therapy with that individual will be a waste of your time and money. In my sessions, we talk about real issues that are impairing your life and work together to bring about resolution, hope, and true healing. It is my hope we can work together to develop a compassionate and trusting therapeutic relationship. If this profile resonates with you, we can set up an initial consultation to discover if I am the right fit for your healing journey. If we establish an agreement to work together, it would be both my honor and privilege to be a part of your wellness journey. This provider resides in Hawaii.

My approach

I approach therapy from a cognitive behavioral/strengths-based/ solution--focused/mindfulness model. In other words, with your help, I will guide you in the direction you want to go by empowering you to draw from the strengths you already possess as well as teaching you new coping skills. I have over 18 years of experience working in the mental health field. I truly care about the holistic health of the mind, body, and soul. I know how lonely, helpless, and hopeless life can make one feel at times. I want you to know it is possible to work through pain and suffering and facilitate real change and healing. Wellness is a lifelong process.

My focus

I specialize in depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD, and sexual abuse/ trauma. However, I am passionate about working with people who have experienced all types of life's painful and joyous events. While living in Nevada, I volunteered at the Rape Crisis Center and worked at a private practice where we specialized in helping survivors of sexual abuse, as well as treating the offenders. I also had the pleasure of counseling many of the children and youth in the foster system. Members of the LGBTQIA2S+ Community, Pagan, and Magickal, alternative medicine/ healer community are welcome and accepted.

My communication style

I like to start sessions going over safety measures and assessing current depression and anxiety levels. I will then ask where you would like to focus today's session. I do a lot of active listening. I will teach skills and send therapeutic videos on various topics. As a therapist, I see myself as a lighthouse. The client is the ship. The lighthouse's purpose is to warn ships of dangerous obstacles and guide them safely to their destination. The lighthouse does not dictate the ship's path; it simply illuminates safe passage. The ship chooses the course it ultimately travels.

My first session with you

The first session is really an information-gathering session. I am making sure you are appropriate for our platform. If I determine a higher level of care is needed than what we can provide on our platform, I will provide referrals to a more appropriate provider. It is important for you to assess if I am the best fit for you as a provider. I will not be the best fit for everyone, so in the spirit of not wasting your time and money please reach out to the Path office to request a transfer of care. The following videos are highly recommended and important to review before our follow-up session. The skills learned in this video will be crucial if you want to experience lasting change even after you graduate from therapy. https://youtu.be/k0BYt2rPB9c https://youtu.be/yS2XWxwKPrE If you suffer from depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD, stress, overwhelm, lack of motivation etc. The skills learned in the videos will be necessary to practice up to 300 times a day in the beginning for you to see any reduction in the symptoms. -------------------------------------------------------------- I highly recommend the following books; "The body keeps the score" by Bessel A. van der Kolk", "Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?"
