Hi there, I'm Kimberly!

Aloha, I'm Kim Medeiros and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am based in Honolulu, Hawai'i, and work with clients throughout the state of Hawai'i via telehealth. I have spent 6 years working in the field and have helped adults of all ages find healing and freedom through therapy. This provider resides in Hawaii.

My approach

Since the needs of people are different, I want to be sure I am providing you with a personalized approach that will best fit your needs. Using an eclectic approach to therapy helps me to do just that. Finding the approach that works best for the client will help us to better connect, better determine needs, set goals, and create an individualized plan which are important first steps in therapy.

My focus

I have a history of providing therapy to adults of all ages. I specialize in addiction, anxiety, stress, grief, depression, life transitions, and relationship issues. Although I specialize in these areas, I also welcome patients who may be experiencing other issues as well.

My communication style

Making the decision to come into therapy can be a difficult one and some may not know what to expect. My calm, gentle, approach helps to put clients at ease. My ability to listen without judgment or criticism opens the door for clients to share without hesitation. Creating a safe space for my clients is a priority for me.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a volunteer for many years, I've worked with groups of people struggling with all types of personal and family issues. As I continued to work with them, I became intrigued and wanted to learn more about their issues from a psychological, emotional, and relational perspective. I decided to make a career change and study marriage and family therapy. I have not regretted this decision. I've learned so much about people (and about myself). This decision has proven to be beneficial for both me and my clients. I love helping people in this capacity and am glad to be where I am today.

My goals for you

My goal for you is to help you define what your goals are in therapy and to help you work toward achieving those goals. Building trust and connection as we work together to determine your needs and define your goals is an important first step. Tracking your progress over time and redefining goals in the process are also important to help keep you moving forward in therapy.

My first session with you

Our first session will be spent connecting, learning more about you, and what brought you into therapy. I will ask questions that may help me better understand your situation and learn more about your needs. We'll discuss your goals for therapy and ways to achieve those goals. We will also spend some time reviewing any questions you may have relating to our platform as well as what you can expect in therapy.
