My communication style

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step in seeking a happier and more fulfilling life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

My journey to mental healthcare

During the time I worked in Juvenile Detention, and the adult prison system while obtaining my BA in Criminal Justice I saw that the system was flawed because no one focused on trying to repair the life of the offenders. No one believed in the concept of reintegration. I knew that I was not going to help individuals better their lives with my BA, so I decided to attend graduate school to become an LPC. I spent 16 years of my career working with chronically mentally ill clients as well as specializing in working with victims of Domestic Violence and their children. I now serve clients 13 to 99 in Texas as an LPC and Iowa as an LMHC.

My goals for you

My therapy approach is tailored to the needs of each individual client. We will work together to form a therapeutic environment to identify your specific needs while maximizing the use of your strengths to overcome the difficulties you face. During my time as a licensed professional counselor, I have worked with diverse populations including adolescents, adults, families, and couples, all with various struggles and needs.

My first session with you

In the first session, I will perform a psycho-social intake to learn about the client's current issue(s) that brought them to therapy. I will as questions concerning past mental health diagnoses for themselves and close family relations. I will gather enough information with the client to formulate a current diagnosis that will be the focus of treatment.
