My name is Ross and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) in the state of North Dakota. I graduated with my Master's in Counseling from the University of Mary in 2019. I currently enrolled in a doctorate program, pursuing training to become a clinical psychologist. I have 4 years experience working as a licensed counselor and 7 total years as a mental health provider. All of my prior experience has been working with individuals with depression, anxiety, self-harm behavior, suicidal ideation, and other mood and personality disorders.
My approach
My goal is to build a safe and strong therapeutic relationship with you to heal and accomplish your personal goals. During my time as a counselor I have approached this in a client-centered way using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to focus on a persons values and strengths, coupled with mindfulness skills, to help individuals achieve their goals and improved health. I also believe music and other creative mediums to be a valuable therapeutic tool and like to incorporate these into my sessions as well. I am excited you are taking this interest into your mental health and the possibility to work with you!
My focus
The clients I have typically seen have struggled with depression and other mood disorders, stress and anxiety disorders, and coping with life changes. I’m also happy to work with anyone looking to better themselves or needs support. Here are other areas I’ve worked on with clients: Relationship issues, Grief, Emptiness, Life Purpose, Mood Disorders, Panic Disorder and Panic Attacks, Self-Harm, Social Anxiety and Phobia
My communication style
Past clients and supervisors have stated I have a calming presence that helps making therapy easier. My hope is this leads you to feel comfortable telling me anything.
My goals for you
Therapy is a collaborative process. I will ask you what your goals are for therapy and we will make them together.
My first session with you
First sessions are a lot of information gathering. I’d like to get a sense of your background and what led you to counseling currently. In the first session, I will be asking a lot of questions; however, in future sessions I will let you direct how you’d like the counseling sessions to go.
