Dr. Penni Waldman is a clinical/health psychologist, inter-faith minister, and hypnotherapist with over 30 years of experience working with a wide range of patients, from infants to geriatrics. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, grief, chronic illness, cultural stress, career counseling, parenting, and men's issues, among others.
My approach
I use an eclectic approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, positive psychology, solution-focused, humanistic, and energy psychology modalities to ensure everyone's needs are addressed. By altering perceptions, we can break unproductive behavior cycles and influence others in more positive ways.
My focus
I work with individuals of all ages, couples, families, and those with special needs. Food and weight issues, viruses, autoimmune diseases, and nutritional needs are also areas I address.
My communication style
My communication style follows the mnemonic HICU - Healing, Inspiration, Comforting, and Uplifting. I guide patients into more productive and peaceful living by helping them gain control over their thoughts and behaviors, which in turn influences emotions and physical responses.
My journey to mental healthcare
I completed my clinical hours for licensure at the Westchester School for Special Children from 1/99-12/00 under Dr. Vito Guarnaccia, and at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center from 1/98-12/98 and 1/01-12/01 under Dr. Chris DeCanio. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
My goals for you
My goal is to help you break unproductive thought and behavior patterns, find healing, and achieve a more positive, peaceful life. Through our work together, you will gain the tools to better control your responses to situations and interact with yourself and others in healthier ways.
