Hi there, I'm Ashley!

Hello all! My name is Ashley Arnold and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have my bachelor's degree in Music Therapy and my master's degree from Molloy College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I use a client-centered approach and believe that my clients should be an active part in determining their goals for therapy. I have post-graduate training in trauma-focused therapy, addiction therapy, and multicultural approaches to therapy.

My approach

I use a humanistic, trauma-focused approach to therapy. I believe that having a healthy and strong therapeutic relationship is a vital part of the therapeutic process. I have used CBT regularly in my practice as well for addiction disorders, anxiety, and depression.

My focus

I typically work with clients 13 years and older. I have worked with clients with addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, ADHD, and relationship issues. I have provided individual therapy, couples, and family sessions as well as group sessions when able.

My communication style

I have a very calm demeanor and a calming voice to match. I like to use anxiety-reducing techniques or grounding techniques in sessions when appropriate as it is not always easy to engage in counseling. I use positive reinforcement when able and prefer to use a strength-based approach in sessions.

My journey to mental healthcare

Helping people was always my passion. In high school, I was a Girl Scout and it was important for me to give back to my community through volunteering. I feel like working both as a Music Therapist and Mental Health Counselor I have been able to help people improve their overall happiness and wellness which is what drives me to work in this field.

My goals for you

I like for clients to be an active part of setting goals for themselves in therapy. Often I will ask clients what their goals are and give different options on how we can make those goals a reality. I like to give options and allow clients to make the decision on how to proceed when appropriate and able.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will be getting to know one another. I will ask questions about the reasons the client wanted to pursue therapy as well as questions about the client's mental health history. I will ask questions related to personal relationships and general development to get to know my client better.
