Hello, I'm Sharon, a licensed independent social worker (LISW, OH I.2103246) who is passionate about helping clients find a path to healing from past experiences and present-day difficulties. I have 25 years of experience working as a therapist, clinical leader, and teacher, and I strive to learn something new daily.
My approach
I believe in treatment that focuses on finding solutions to troubling symptoms and holistic approaches to healing. My approach combines a variety of methods including strengths-based, person-centered, brief solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and EMDR trauma therapy.
My focus
I have worked with people with a variety of challenges including substance abuse, anxiety, depression, mood swings, relationship challenges, attention and focus difficulties, and many who have experienced physical, sexual, or emotional trauma and first responders who need assistance following traumatic events.
My communication style
My therapy style is welcoming and inquisitive. I will ask for more information about you, who you are, how you'd like to be, and what is getting in your way the most from day to day.
My journey to mental healthcare
Through my own life experiences and those of others in my life, I felt drawn to the profession of social work and to becoming a therapist. I feel passionate about helping others to experience as much joy as they can in life.
My goals for you
I will listen to you to gain information about what you are experiencing and partner with you to develop a plan that is focused on minimizing or alleviating troubling symptoms and experiences that you are having which negatively impact your quality of life.
My first session with you
During the first session I will share information with you about confidentiality and the therapeutic process and ask you to provide additional information about yourself and what you are struggling with. I will then provide some options for treatment and partner with you to develop a plan that feels right to you.
