My name is Summer Wyers, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oklahoma. My style of therapy is collaborative, where you are seen as the expert on your life and your personal values are set as the foundation of our work together. I believe strongly that it is important that I maintain the ability to see different perspectives, which better enables me to meet people where they are.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is eclectic, as no two people are alike. Through careful consideration of a client’s personality, unique needs, preferences, and experiences, I adjust as needed. I make use of models such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, SFBT, and Mindfulness throughout the process of therapy.
My focus
I work primarily with adolescents and adults struggling with phase of life problems, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship recovery, family of origin issues, women’s issues, and much more.
My communication style
When meeting virtually, it’s important for a provider to set the tone that puts clients at ease. I’m often referred to as “warm and fuzzy” but employ appropriate positive confrontation to illicit change. It’s important that my clients feel safe to express themselves without fear of judgment, knowing that I will discover and call out their capabilities. It’s my goal to serve as a resource for positive change, carefully reminding clients of their initial goals along the way.
My first session with you
New clients will be met with authenticity, empathy, and absolutely no judgment at every session. The best outcomes take shape when a client and provider build a synergistic relationship over time, discovering both what works and what needs refinement. The first session may seem overwhelming with meeting a new person and experiencing questions that provoke deep emotions, but as time goes on a relationship built on trust and mutual respect can create healing.
