I’m Elaine Kovacs, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over ten years of experience providing social work services, including individual therapy. I have expertise in grief and loss, life transitions, family conflict, anxiety, and mood disorders. I am open to learning and growing alongside you in your journey toward healing. I look forward to working with you to process the challenges you may be facing, from a calming and non-judgmental space.
My approach
I take a humanistic and compassionate approach, from an existential perspective. I have training in the following approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SBFT), Family Systems Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I'm also interested in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, as well as work around self-compassion.
My focus
I work with adults (18+) in various life transitions of young adulthood, parenthood, and retirement. I have both personal and professional experience working with caregivers, and addressing issues with grief and loss. I have also worked with people looking to make a change in their relationship with substances. Ultimately I am working towards identifying where and how you see change.
My communication style
I take a relaxed but inquisitive style of communication, fostering both a sense of comfort as well as growth. I will provide feedback and resources, as well as clarity both in what I know, as well as what I don’t. Being in therapy is about fostering an opportunity for self-discovery in a safe environment, and I welcome any guidance about how to best serve you in your journey.
