My name is Veronique Gilmore. I am a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina. I like to meet the client where they are and tailor my sessions to their need. From day one we start with building coping strategies.
My approach
I use cognitive behavioral therapy as the basis to my approach; however I do pull interventions from other therapeutic approaches if they would benefit my client.
My focus
I have experience working with people from various mental health disorders. I find that tend to have people who experience life changes, emotion regulation trouble, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression more frequently.
My communication style
I create a warm and safe environment and encourage telehealth participants to find a space similarly in their environment. I’m relax and laid back and work while I provide in between session exercises I also understand that life happens, so sometimes we have to pivot to make things work better for the client.
My journey to mental healthcare
I found people gravitated to me and told me their stories. I like to listen and to help people find their way. Becoming a therapist was the best way for me to incorporate these things and make a living! I enjoy the most to see my clients make improvements so much so, they no longer need therapy and are mentally healthier.
My goals for you
We set goals together that follow the SMART goal model. I usually have preset of goals that we can use to develop treatment plan but it’s up to the client to determine if those goals align with what they feel they can feasibly do and what they want from therapy.
My first session with you
I will ask a lot of questions to build rapport and to understand what brings you into therapy. We will definitely discuss a coping strategy for you to start working on before your next session.
