I am Patricia (Patty) Cherry, a Texas-licensed LPC. My primary approaches to therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness-based therapy. I work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety and stress, adjustment issues, and grief. In addition, I do Christian counseling.
My approach
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is my primary approach; however, I do incorporate client-centered therapy and Mindfulness.
My focus
I typically work with clients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety, relationship issues, adjustment issues, and stress.
My communication style
I value establishing rapport with a client and truly want to hear their story. I believe clients have to capacity to identify, process, and solve the issues that are concerning. I value a warm and accepting environment where trust can develop.
My journey to mental healthcare
My thoughts and personality have steered me in the direction of helping relationships and a helping profession. At this moment in time, I truly believe it is essential for us to develop a safe and purposeful life.
My goals for you
Goal setting is of primary importance. We have to have specific and realistic goals to keep us focused and progress in the quest for overcoming obstacles. I also believe that the client ultimately is the decision maker of the long-term and the short-term goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, I review and complete a comprehensive Intake, listen to your issues, and establish goals for therapy. The client is important!
