Hi there, I'm Mark!

I'm Mark Chapman. I'm licensed as an LCSW and LCDC in Texas, and LICSW in Minnesota. My approach is gentle and challenging and to make Clients, Omnigender, feel safe and understood. My expertise is in treating any type of Physical, Sexual and Mental/Emotional abuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Substance Abuse Disorders.

My approach

The therapies I primarily use include Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Integrative or Holistic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Socratic Questioning, and Narrative Therapy.

My focus

Omnigender who have experienced Physical, Sexual, and Mental abuse from Childhood and/or Adulthood. Spousal/Partner Abuse including abuse by Narcissistic partners. Active Military, Veterans, First Responders, and those in the health field who have experienced trauma due to COVID including Nurses. I treat PTSD/Trauma, Depression, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Substance Abuse Disorders.

My communication style

I am very warm and inviting to create a safe environment. I encourage clients to challenge themselves during sessions while using reflection to assure the clients feel understood and validated. I am open to constructive criticism and feedback. My therapy is a team approach between myself and my Client.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was burned out as an Accountant and sought support from a Therapist. It was suggested after several sessions I try taking classes I found interesting or doing Volunteer work that attracted me. I began Volunteering for an organization that worked with youth at risk. I spent a week working with these youths in an organized camp setting and then a year with one of the youths. I saw so much good being done for youth who had experienced horrible circumstances in their life. I thought if I could make a living helping people through the tragedies they have experienced and have their lives back then I would be blessed. What keeps me doing this work is seeing the people who come into my sessions feeling hopeless and desperate and leaving with their life and dignity back.

My goals for you

I use Assessments and Discussion to connect with the Client and identify clear measurable attainable goals. Recovery from PTSD/Trauma and Substance abuse are 2 of those attainable goals.

My first session with you

First sessions are about identifying the needs of the Client in their own words. Then completing of assessments and getting background and history related to their reasons for seeking treatment so I can better assist them in receiving the most productive results.
