I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Virginia with 16 years of experience working with people navigating a variety of life circumstances. I hold a Master of Social Work degree and completed my clinical hours for licensure from 2/15/2010 through 2/5/2014 under the supervision of Teshana Henderson in Richmond, VA.
My approach
I enjoy 1:1 therapy using various therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and interpersonal therapy techniques to equip clients with better problem-solving, stress management, and coping skills. My therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Existential, Interpersonal, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative, and Strength-Based approaches.
My focus
I have a passion for working with teenage clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and anger management issues. Over the last 6 years, I have also developed a commitment to older adults (55 years and older) and persons with chronic illnesses. I work with individuals and minors aged 13-17. My specialties include working with Adolescents/Teens, Alzheimer's, Anger Management, Chronic Illness, Coping Skills, Depression, Grief, and Older Adults.
My communication style
I provide a therapeutic platform where the teenage client can vent their feelings in a neutral space but also expect gentle confrontation to develop deeper insight into their thinking and behavior patterns. For aging and chronically ill clients, our treatment examines one's life purpose, resolves crises and grief, and increases empowerment and autonomy.
My goals for you
My goals for you are to identify healthy ways to interact with yourself in addition to peer groups, family, and school systems. For caregivers of all ages, I aim to help you acknowledge strain and stress and devise strategies to achieve balance while juggling various life roles.
