Hi, my name is Loria Boone. I am a licensed professional counselor with 10 years of experience in behavioral health. I am intensively trained in dialectical behavioral therapy. This is an evidence-based practice used to treat an array of concerns including borderline personality disorder, self-harm, interpersonal issues, and difficulty coping with life stressors.
My approach
I approach therapy collaboratively. My clients are the experts in their own lives. I use dialectical behavioral therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to increase mindfulness, build insight, and teach skills.
My focus
I have experience working with clients across the lifespan from adolescents to older adults. I have experience treating a range of conditions including personality disorders, mood disorders, trauma, interpersonal conflict, and substance use concerns.
My communication style
I’m collaborative in my approach to therapy. This is a journey that we go on together. You are the expert. I’m here to listen. I aim to have my clients leave each session with something they didn’t have when they came whether that’s a skill or increased insight.
My journey to mental healthcare
From a young age, I’ve always found enjoyment in helping people. I’ve also seen firsthand the profound impact that mental health, and substance use concerns as well as subsequent treatment can have on people, families, and communities. I truly believe that this work changes lives. Being a part of this process is humbling and inspiring.
My goals for you
Goal setting is collaborative. The client tells me what their goals are. Then we work together to identify therapy targets.
My first session with you
During the initial session, we get to know each other. I introduce myself and you have the chance to ask me questions. Then I gather information about you and what brought you to therapy. Based on your goals and history we work on coming up with a plan on how I can help.
