My name is Grace Moran and I am a Licensed Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counselor with 20 years of experience working with adults, children, couples, and families with a wide variety of mental health concerns and needs. I also have specialized experience in treating trauma-based mental illnesses and injuries and have provided mental health and vocational rehabilitation services to many agencies including the local foster care system, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and domestic violence, and sexual violence agencies. I have served as the Clinical Director for a local non-profit agency developing and implementing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy programs for local Veterans and children in need. I have also served as a therapist for Sarasota County Mental Health Court, for the Statewide Intervention Project for Nurses, and as a parenting class provider for the 12th judicial family court system.
My approach
My therapeutic approach matches specific diagnoses and gold standard treatments for those diagnoses. I teach techniques and strategies from CBT, DBT, EFT, REBT, SFT, and Gottman and am trained in EMDR interventions
My focus
I have worked with clients struggling with mental health issues across the struggle spectrum, but have specialized in trauma for 20 years.
My communication style
I am a real person and that shows in our sessions. Therapy is a safe environment to be completely open and yourself without judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I look forward to meeting with you to talk about how I can help you move toward your life goals and leave some of life's pains behind.
My goals for you
Therapy is a gift you give to yourself. Your happiness matters and together we will discover real-life solutions to your real-life problems. I believe in working together to develop achievable goals that have tangible results and teaching you therapy techniques so that you have the tools to use on your own once we part ways.
My first session with you
During our first session, we will discuss confidentiality and talk together to get a good understanding of what you are interested in working on. After that, I will put together a treatment plan that will outline what your goals are, what we will be working on to help you reach those goals, and how we will know when you get there.
