My Name is Monea Marsh and I am a License Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Jacksonville, FL, working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults to develop coping skills to manage anger, stress, depressive symptoms, anxiety, and trauma.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of the client. I most frequently use Cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and Trauma Focused Therapy. I help the client set realistic goals to obtain throughout our sessions.
My focus
My style and approach typically work best with adolescents, teens, and young adults as I help them navigate through life transitions, and social pressures and help obtain emotional stability. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. Creating a safe space for the client to express, process, and communicate is most important.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people. Whether it was as a peer counselor in school or being a trusted and loyal friend, I have always been that friend to help others in tough times. I have always had the desire to be the change that I've always wanted to see, by helping others understand that they are not alone and it is okay to feel!
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is client-centered. The client and I will develop realistic and obtainable goals to work towards during the session. Goal setting begins with building therapeutic rapport and creating trust between the client and therapist. Over time we will assess the progress of each goal.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you’ve been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there.
