My name is Dr. Tammy Young, and I am a licensed professional counselor. I believe in the power of awareness of the whole self. I focus on building self-confidence, inspiring change, and improving overall wellness.
My approach
My therapeutic style is a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and coaching. I help clients identify how their own thoughts and beliefs impact their behaviors. I see the client as the leader in the therapeutic process so that you are comfortable every step of the way while assisting you with building confidence in your decision-making.
My focus
I work well with individuals who feel stagnant in life or who may be dealing with depression, anxiety, or grief. This includes young and older adults as well as teens 14 and older.
My communication style
I provide a safe place for you to share your experiences. I am reassuring and nonjudgmental but objective and will confront discrepancies in your goals and your actions. I want you to be successful through this process, and I am a great listener and an enthusiastic coach.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always desired to help people, and most find me easy to talk with and open up to. I am driven by watching people grow and succeed.
My goals for you
You are the author of your process. We will work together to set realistic goals that will guide you toward your desired outcomes.
My first session with you
During our first session, we will discuss what you hope to get out of the therapeutic process. We will identify initial goals and expectations. You will have the opportunity to further determine if I will be a good fit for you.
