My name is Hilary M. DeWeerd and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work with adults (18+) and provide individual and couples counseling. I welcome clients of any race, religion or orientation.
My approach
My Therapeutic and theoretical approach to therapy offers the use of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Insight-oriented Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Mindfulness Therapy.
My focus
The issues that I work with are clients who suffer from Anxiety, Substance Abuse, Depression, Trauma, Life Transitions, Neurodiversity, and Grief.
My communication style
I listen, clarify, and give feedback. My style is interactive and direct and I give homework but don't grade it!
My journey to mental healthcare
I grew up with some challenges and , as a result, wanted to help people to overcome theirs. Building self-esteem, using healthy coping skills and improving communication with others are what I focus on.

My first session with you
Most clients are anxious about the first session of therapy and this is normal. I get to know you, ask you about the concerns bringing you into therapy, explore your healthy coping skills and help you to identify your goals, My goal is for you to feel safe, comfortable and not judged.
