Lisa Olivia Gibbs' LPC personal mission is to provide, protect and treat others with love and respect and to positively inspire their desire to believe in themselves.
My approach
My passion is blending the powerful benefits of traditional talk therapy, CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Though these techniques are my most common, I follow a personal ethos of meeting the client where they are in their individual journey.
My focus
I have experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, families with Child-Relationship issues, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance, anxiety, divorce, and sex therapy. Individual and couples alike, dealing with but not limited to career changes, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I also offer Christian Counseling if requested by the client.
My communication style
With compassion, humor, and understanding it is my desire to walk by your side through your healing journey.
My journey to mental healthcare
When I was two years old my great grandmother told my mother "this child is going to help so many people she has the gift of healing." Well hearing that throughout my childhood I thought I was to become a doctor or nurse. Well that never happened because I soon found out I don't like blood. Later in my young adult life I was in church seeking direction from God when one day a Minister in my church approached me and said, "The church is looking to start biblical counseling and you are one of the 12 people God told me was to be on the team." I was shocked but knew it was God because I had been seeking him in this area. So I became a Christian Counselor in my church. From there God continued to direct me down this path and today I am a counselor and have worked with so many populations including In-home counseling, school (TDT), Substance abuse, and in the jails to currently virtual. I love what I do because I understand that life isn't always fair, and we all fall short so none of us has the right to judge. My favorite scripture is "Treat others the way you want to be treated."
My goals for you
It is my approach to collaborate with individuals to create a plan that's right for their unique needs.
My first session with you
During the first session the client can expect to complete an intake assessment to help me get a better understanding of the client's needs or issues they would like to work on. The first hour will allow both me and the client the opportunity to start building the therapeutic relationship.
