Hi there, I'm Melissa!

I am a licensed professional counselor with over 20 years of experience providing space for people to process whatever they are dealing with. Everyone needs a place to be heard, to share, and to simply BE whoever they are. I offer a safe and supportive environment for individuals, couples, and families to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

My approach

My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing from various modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and family systems therapy. I tailor my therapeutic style to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. Together, we will work to gain insight, develop coping skills, and create meaningful change.

My focus

I work with a wide range of clients dealing with various issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, life transitions, relationship problems, and more. Whether you are an individual seeking personal growth, a couple looking to strengthen your relationship, or a family navigating challenges, I am here to provide compassionate guidance and support. I also specialize in working with minors ages 13-17.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I believe in creating a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood, and valued. I will actively listen to your story, offer feedback and insights, and empower you to find your path to healing and growth.

My journey to mental healthcare

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Virginia and a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Development from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. With over two decades of clinical experience, I have had the privilege of helping countless individuals navigate life's challenges and achieve greater well-being. My passion for mental healthcare stems from a deep desire to make a positive difference in people's lives.

My goals for you

My goal is to help you tap into your inner strengths, gain new perspectives, and develop effective strategies for overcoming obstacles. Whether you are seeking to reduce symptoms, improve relationships, or achieve personal goals, I will be your partner on the journey. Together, we will create a personalized treatment plan that empowers you to live a more fulfilling and authentic life.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and explore your hopes and expectations for our work together. I will take time to understand your unique background, experiences, and challenges. We will begin to establish a therapeutic rapport and collaborate on setting goals for treatment. You can expect a safe, supportive, and confidential space to share your story and begin the process of growth and healing.
