I am LaShay Dupree, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. I pride myself on being active, responsive, and present with my clients. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy ensuring we consider how factors including relationship, environmental, situational, and health concerns. I will always respond within 24 hours if not sooner.
My approach
As a licensed therapist, I use evidence-based approaches to treatment including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. My goal is to utilize these therapeutic models in a way that you don't feel like you're interacting with a therapist but communicating with a human being.
My focus
I love working with clients who are experiencing life issues such as workplace stress, school or work bullying, overwhelmed with caring for everyone but themselves, teen pregnancy issues, and seniors who are no longer able to do what they used to do and feel isolated from family and friends due to their physical and mental decline.
My communication style
My clients describe me as open, available, and authentic. I love people and I love helping people realize they are not alone in life. We will approach your issues together and normalize what you are feeling. You are the leader in your sessions, I am just here to guide you through the situation in a non-judgmental manner.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist to help people sort through life. I enjoy interacting with people and sharing. Life hasn't always been easy for me and I have managed to keep pressing forward despite it all. I know the importance of having a neutral, non-judgmental party present to help you along your journey. I get excited at what's to come because I know your ability and your greatness will shine through in the end.
My goals for you
Clients set their own goals for treatment. You are your own expert. You are not coming to therapy for me to tell you how to live your life. You are coming to therapy to develop tools and skills to be able to manage and achieve your goals.
My first session with you
During session one we will get to know each other and develop a treatment plan based on your goals for therapy. I like to tell you about me and my family and what I have going on so that you don't feel like you are the only one sharing. This is a mutual therapeutic relationship.
