Hi there, I'm Jameka!

I have worked with several different populations, including those with severe mental illness, addictions, geriatrics, corrections, and adolescents. My goal for every client is for them to become the best version of themselves.

My focus

I work with a number of different clients ranging from those suffering from depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, low self-esteem, mood disorders, and anger issues. I also work with couples that have trouble just seeing eye to eye. I love what I do.

My approach

My most common theoretical approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Integrative Therapy.

My communication style

My communication style is tailored to the individual that I am counseling. I counsel in a judge-free environment and always attempt to gain outstanding rapport.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a therapist because I have always wanted to help people through some of their darkest hours. Being exposed to some dark hours myself, I know that it is difficult to do it alone. When you have someone to confide in, assist you through the hard times, and just let you know that you are not alone, makes a difference.

I approach goal setting with my clients as a joint effort. We will work together to establish the goals that need to be set.

The first sessions are the meet and greet sessions. They are also the sessions where I learn what brought you to counseling and you get to learn a little about me.
