Therapy can be a collaborative process, where the client is in the driver's seat and the therapist is along for the ride, weighing out different options. My form of therapy comes from a place of empathy and compassion.

My journey to mental healthcare

My time in the military is what brought me into the world of counseling psychology. I have my own personal experience with therapy and believe it can help to blend that with the client's perspective on what they are seeking to address.

Goal setting comes from a quality-of-life perspective. Using the client's knowledge about what has worked in the past and what new interventions they are interested in exploring.

Our first session

The first session is mainly just rapport building and developing a picture of what the client is seeking to address in therapy. I believe it is important to begin establishing trust before getting into deep-rooted issues.
