Hi there, I'm Canise!

I preferred to be called Canise. My approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma-focused, and behavioral modification. My professional background has focused mainly on the forensic psychological theoretical framework, using Erik Erikson's Eight Stages of Development.

My focus

Ages 25 to 65; Anxiety, PTSD, Bereavement, Depression, Stress, Relationships, Parenting, Major Life Changes, and Mood Disorders.

Erik Erikson's Stages of Development, Carl Rogers Humanistic Theory, Behavioral Modification, and some Gestalt principles.

My communication style

Client-Centered. I quickly assess what appears to be comfortable to the client based on their culture, tone of voice, crisis situation, and/or request need.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was 13 years old when I watched the story of Helen Keller. I watched how rewarding it was to watch Dr. Sullivan treat a very challenging client who was eventually able to connect enough with Dr. Sullivan to effectuate major changes in her life. I was fascinated and wanted to be a therapist.

My goals for you

First, exploring how the behaviors are impacting one's daily functioning. The intensity, frequency, and duration of the unwanted behaviors.
