Hi there, I'm Marissa!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in California. My past relationships include grief, trauma and growth. I survived obstacles in my life with the help of a therapist.

I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. You have taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help. I'd like to help you work on the struggles you are facing; and offer you a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings.

My approach

My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, empathetic, supportive, and good listener. We will be working together with to make a goal. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles.

My communication style

Active listening is a huge part in therapy and it is important for you to feel heard and understood. It is important the client is comfortable enough in session so they can share what brought them to therapy as we work together to find a solution.

My journey to mental healthcare

I began my career as a headstart teacher and used my degree to pursue social work. During my time as a social worker I pursued my Masters. I was formerly a DV victim almost 30 years ago with 4 children. I have faced many deaths of family members where I needed therapy. It became my passion after my traumas to help people with theirs.

I use different modalities/therapy techniques to support the situation. Everything is confidential and there is no judgement.

Our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand, and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Some of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter."
