Hi there, I'm Laurie!

Born and raised in sunny California, I obtained my undergraduate degree from CSU, Fresno, in Recreational Therapy. I have worked primarily with teens in the juvenile justice system and youth in foster care, and now I am seeing couples, families, and individuals. I believe all problems are centered around our relationships with others.

I do not have a preference with whom I work. Anyone who is needing help understanding self and their relationships with others.

My approach

I enjoy helping individuals, couples, and families understand why they are struggling and how they can change their mindset, perspective, and relationship with themselves and others. I use CBT and Gottman strategies along with mindfulness and nature/animals.

My communication style

I am down-to-earth, use humor when appropriate, and want you to find the answers for yourself. With gentle guidance, I can help you see things through a different lens and begin to challenge your patterns and belief system.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was a recreation therapist in psychiatric hospitals, doing activities with the patients, when I noticed a pattern that we were helping the patients but not the families. Then the patient would go home, only to return to us later. So I decided to learn more about marriage and family therapy to better understand how the family system works.

My goals for you

I share that I have hope that you can heal and see things differently. With support, guidance, and caring, you can begin to feel better, develop a support system and learn strategies to use for a lifetime.

Our first session

We will get to know each other and go over all the necessary paperwork and agreements. I will ask you questions based on our assessment tools, and we will work together to develop treatment goals.
