Hi there, I'm Heyzel!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Southern California, but offering services via telehealth. I work with men and women navigating challenges in their relationships, those struggling with work stress, depression, anxiety, and grief.

My focus

I have found that my style and approach best suit adults who are struggling with day-to-day interpersonal problems, romantic and family relationships, and working on building skills and identifying barriers that may be impacting their overall well-being.

My approach

I approach my clients depending on their individual needs, but I most frequently use Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I am also focused on Humanistic Therapy and being very client-centered.

My communication style

My communication style is very warm, empathic, and personable. I pride myself on building positive rapport with my clients and allowing them to feel comfortable sharing their experiences. I want my clients to feel heard, supported, and understood.

My journey to mental healthcare

I decided to become a therapist because I have always been fascinated with exploring and identifying family patterns of behavior that influence who we become. I love listening to people's personal experiences, and it is a great joy to see them grow, heal, and make positive changes.

My approach to goal setting is to identify realistic and attainable goals and things you would like to accomplish throughout treatment. I would approach this as a collaborative effort to identify areas or symptoms that you would like to improve.

During our first session, you can expect to answer and reflect on what brings you into therapy, current symptoms, exploring family history in relation to mental health, and share any other information that could be impacting you at this time.
