Hi there, I'm Atavia!

My understanding of life is that we all feel stuck at times. I have dedicated my practice to assisting those feeling stuck by specializing in life adjustments, grief and loss, break-ups, anxiety, depression, palliative care, and geriatric issues.

My focus

I have worked with a variety of clients. The majority of clients have either lost something or someone close in their lives, or are looking to make changes in their lives because of feeling stuck.

My approach

My theoretical approach varies depending on the needs of my client. The approaches I find most effective are solution-focused, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and narrative therapy.

My communication style

I hope to create a safe, calm environment to allow clients to share their story. I believe in gentle but direct reflection and communication.

My journey to mental healthcare

Like many people, I too have experienced some of life's harsh realities and lessons. I know firsthand what it feels like to be lonely, depressed, anxious, and unsure of the future, to be uncomfortable. Over the years, I have learned to be resilient and how to cope with various situations.

My goals for you

I can provide a guiding hand to assist clients with goal setting. During this process, we may discuss what has worked in the past vs what has not been effective.

Our first session

During the first session, I will briefly introduce myself, share my work experience, and initiate a conversation about what is most important to the client and their envision for the future, supporting those who may have difficulty imagining the future.
