My journey to mental healthcare

About 5 years after college, a friend of mine who had finished social work graduate school suggested I attend. Perhaps he saw a certain capacity to be effective. Over the years, I think I have learned how to be helpful. Feedback from clients has been crucial in my understanding the effects of my efforts.

My goals for you

As part of a collaborative goal setting effort, I listen closely to determine what the client wants to achieve. I look to a person for their guidance about what they wish to achieve.

Our first session

I get directly into what is of concern to a person. I ask what brings them to Rula and what their goals are. I do not take a formal history or have a set of questions prepared. All of that will come out over time.
