Hi there, I'm Gilda!

I specialize in medication management by providing guidance in seeing if medications are the right thing for you and which medication(s) will work the best for you. My approach is to listen and learn from you about what your needs are.

My focus

I have worked with many types of patients. My primary interest is in mood disorders such as bipolar disorder and depression. I also have experience with schizophrenia, intellectual/developmentally disabled, PTSD, anxiety, and those with severe mental illness.

My approach

I use cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. The key to my approach is to be an active listener and engage you in a dialogue where we can find mutual ground for you to meet the goals that you determine.

My communication style

I have received positive feedback from patients stating that I am welcoming, listen attentively, give helpful feedback, and that patients know I really care. I am here to help you by being open-minded to whatever your needs might be. Respect is a key component of my care for you.

My journey to mental healthcare

Mental healthcare has always been a passion for me. I enjoy working with people who need my services because I can effect a change in the person's life and help the person achieve their potential.

My goals for you

Goal setting is a collaborative process. I start with listening to what the patient desires and go from there. Respect is vital. The goals are the patient's, not necessarily my goals. The patient needs to own their own goals.

Our first session

I explain my role as a psychotropic medication prescriber. I assess your current emotional and psychiatric state, then formulate a diagnosis based on that and your history. I will ask questions, and we will discuss appropriate options and jointly decide what happens next.
