My communication style

My style is more reserved and calm. I hope to be a supportive ear for you to share your thoughts so you can achieve your goals. I often ask you questions to aid in finding out patterns or insight into your struggles. I will point out areas of strength you possess and help you challenge thoughts or beliefs that may be unproductive or negative.

My journey to mental healthcare

I did not know I wanted to pursue this path until I took a Sociology class at my community college. It felt "real" and taught me about compassion and systemic issues. I transferred to a uni, majored in Sociology and Applied Psychology, and solidified becoming a helping professional. I dedicated the following years to my Master's and clinical work.

My goals for you

I ask clients about their goals early on as a reference point for treatment. We identify short-term goals, long-term goals, clinical goals, and personal goals. Not all goals will be achieved or pursed at the same time, but having them may give you direction on what may be most important, or next for you.

Our first session

The first session is getting to know you as an individual with a past, present, and future. I may ask specific questions to get a better understanding of your history; which includes family, relationships, work, school, childhood, and past and current symptoms or struggles. Other than that, I ask clients to share as much or as little as they feel.
