Hi there, I'm Amy!

I specialize in helping clients develop the insight and skills necessary to manage depression, anxiety, grief, family stress, relationships, unresolved trauma, and life transitions. I use an integrative approach.

My focus

I have experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults in a variety of settings, including schools, community clinics, inpatient settings, and private clinics. I love working with motivated individuals who may not even know exactly what they need to work on or change, but want to learn more about being self-aware.

My approach

I have developed many techniques along the way, as not one intervention will work for everyone. Some of the modalities I use are EMDR, CBT, Motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, as well as a combination of these.

My communication style

I meet people where they are, maybe having to learn how they are, even feeling let down, and how to cope with that feeling. Maybe we have a tool, but if no one ever took the time to teach us, then what good is that tool? My communication style does tend to use humor at times to help build rapport.

My journey to mental healthcare

I think one of the most important parts of therapy is finding the right 'fit'. That relationship is key in helping grow, trust, and meet any goals that you might have going into the therapeutic process. I have been in the counseling world and love what I get to do.

My goals for you

Goal setting is important and needs to be from the client, as I am there to help guide the talk. I start goal setting with the first session, when assessing the problem areas the client is seeking some help with.

Our first session

During the first session, I really like to focus on rapport building and find out what some of the therapy goals might be. I tend to use humor at times to help with the nervousness of an initial counseling session. I am willing to listen to as little or as much as you want to share during the first session. I meet you where you are.
