Hi there, I'm Benjamin!

I have lived a long and colorful life. I've made good and bad choices. I have 22+ years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. I DO NOT JUDGE, AT ALL, PERIOD. I can be both blunt and gentle as appropriate. My life's work can be summed up in three words: "offering people hope".

My focus

I work with individuals aged 12 and up. I work with many different types of clients. I want to help people feel better and function better in their lives.

My approach

I feel confident working on depression, anxiety, Bipolar issues, anger management, dual diagnosis, substance abuse, PTSD/trauma, LGBTQ+, dysfunctional families/relationships, stress management, aging, women's issues, men's issues, etc. I am also able to complete FMLA/disability paperwork.

My communication style

I vary my communication style based on the client's needs and personality. Some clients choose for me to be more direct. Other clients choose for me to listen more and offer less direct feedback. I respond appropriately based on the client's preferences.

My journey to mental healthcare

I coordinate with the client on an ongoing basis to determine the progress in treatment and next steps in the process. I use the testing instruments to address any emotional issues and changes involved. I use non-judgment to assist the client in evaluating ongoing needs in treatment

My goals for you

I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgia College and State University and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Fort Valley State University. Throughout my career, I have specialized in creating a safe and non-judgmental space to facilitate personal change, insight, and healing.

I will listen to your issues. Together, you and I will coordinate your treatment process to manage your treatment effectively. My commitment extends beyond my professional practice, as I've volunteered with counseling, hospice, Salvation Army, and food banks, reflecting my dedication to community well-being.
