Hi there, I'm Donna!

I assist families and individuals experiencing life traumas, crises, transitions, and major illnesses to cope, understand, and sometimes just accept these challenges. Using cognitive behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused therapy, I work collaboratively with you to make progress toward your chosen goals.

My focus

I work primarily with adults, families, and older adolescents struggling with life transitions. I believe in families and their ability to heal and nurture one another. Anxiety and depression are byproducts of our stressful environment and afflict many clients. We will work together as a positive alliance to learn coping strategies for healing.

My approach

Every client is unique, and my approach is to collaborate with you to understand your needs. Empathy, support, and skill acquisition, combined with cognitive behavioral therapy, are useful tools we will explore. I believe we all inherently know what we need to heal, but sometimes it takes focus and support to discover the process.

My communication style

My communication style is quiet, accepting, compassionate, and empathetic. We will work together at your pace and comfort level. Your life is your story, and I am available to listen, share, support, and nudge you toward your peace.

My journey to mental healthcare

Working in almost all areas of healthcare, I have seen and experienced the joy and sadness life has to offer. I understand how difficult and challenging life can be. It was these moments that encouraged me to pursue counseling, where I felt I could offer hope and healing.

My goals for you

Your goals will become my goals. I can suggest and perhaps clarify what I see and understand, but it is for you to decide how you desire to change your life and what that story will look like. I am more of a guide than a manager, more shepherd than supervisor. Clarity will come as we form that therapeutic alliance.

Our first session

Our first session will be colloquial and relaxing. As we get to know one another better, we can discover your hopes, fears, concerns, and goals. We will build a rapport based on unconditional acceptance and mutual respect. As your story unfolds, the process becomes a viable, growing journey of change.
