Hi there, I'm Justin!

I enjoy helping people find hope again when they are struggling with depression, trauma, and self-injury. Life is hard, and sometimes we need to know that someone out there believes in us and knows that we can do hard things.

My focus

I enjoy working with people who are just starting their counseling journey and need to feel things out, as well as helping those who feel that counseling no longer holds any hope of helping them heal. I work with depression, trauma, self-injury, grief, and abuse.

My approach

Being more aware of our thoughts helps us change our beliefs and feelings that are hindering us on our journey of healing. Empathy and compassion are paramount in counseling. Traumatized people have already walked through hell, and they need to know that someone will walk back through it with them, so they are not alone on the journey of healing.

My communication style

Patience, understanding, honesty, compassion, and a willingness to admit that I do not know all the answers to life's problems, but that we will discover and find them together.

My journey to mental healthcare

Dealing with depression when I was younger taught me how fragile we can feel, and how strong we can become. Grieving, sadness, anger, fear—emotions considered hard or negative are important to be looked at, processed, and embraced. I don't want anyone to feel alone in their healing journey.

My goals for you

I want clients to be in charge of their treatment, to set the tone for how they want "to get to where they want to be". I will work to make that a reality by focusing on real-world options available to the client to help them accomplish this. Having goals is required to help us get to where we want to end up in life, successful and healthy.

Our first session

In our first session, I want to answer any questions you may have and get to know each other briefly. I prefer clients to come up with around three areas they want to address or focus on, and we develop a plan together on how to get to work.
