My communication style

Establishing rapport is necessary in order for patients to feel safe and comfortable with sharing personal vulnerabilities. I communicate in an empathetic and supportive manner in order to establish this rapport.

My journey to mental healthcare

Seeing the struggle of young people with anxiety and depression sparked my desire to be able to do more to help. I developed a passion for caring for people with serious mental illness in the context of their unique and often very difficult social situations.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting depends on the patient's issues and level of functioning. In my role, goals often regard medication compliance and tapering of controlled substances. I try to be clear and direct when expressing expectations and discussing goals.

Our first session

During our first meeting, there will be a lot of questions asked as I try to get to know the patient. I always let them know that if a question feels too personal or a topic too tender, we can skip it, and that they are in charge of what they share and when they want to stop.
