Hi there, I'm Wanda!

I am a therapist with a focus on trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. I also provide marital, premarital, and post-divorce counseling. My background includes work as a minister and college professor, which informs my holistic approach to supporting clients.

My focus

I typically work with adults and some teens, at least 16 years of age. At this time, I don't have an age limit. I work with both men and women, and I have experience working with dually diagnosed clients with both mood and/or anxiety disorders and substance use issues.

My approach

The most common theoretical approaches I use include brief solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion process therapy, and faith-based therapy.

I work to develop rapport with a conversational style of relating as I get to know clients and gather information.

My journey to mental healthcare

My interest in mental health began in high school and deepened through conversations with friends working with vulnerable populations. After initially pursuing accounting, I changed my major to counseling and later completed my Master's degree in Counseling.

Treatment goals are developed around targeting the reduction of symptoms and the development of coping, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills to improve outcomes and relationships for clients.

Our first session

Clients should expect an integration of conversation with open-ended intake questions to develop an understanding of what brings him or her to therapy.
