My communication style

I strive to create an environment where my client feels valued and understood, and is empowered to achieve the goals for life change. I believe many of my clients appreciate the positive counselor-client relationship that promotes hope and helps discover personal strengths and solutions.

My journey to mental healthcare

Although I began my undergraduate studies in business, I enjoyed the required psychology courses and began realizing it would be more fulfilling to help people overcome personal problems versus help people in business. My passion for problem-solving and helping meet a great need for happier lives continues to motivate me in my counseling work.

My goals for you

Goal setting first involves helping the client identify and communicate life changes that are wanted for one's future. The path or means for reaching the goals needs to be identified and communicated in partnership with the client, based on the interests and needs of the client.

Our first session

First session includes both time for assessment of client needs and problem situation, and discussing how counseling may help meet client goals. This should also be an opportunity to learn about each other and expectations for the counseling process. Meeting for the first time should promote a sense of renewed hope and direction.
