Hi there, I'm Raquel!

I'm so glad you're here. Starting therapy can sometimes feel daunting, and I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help. I believe that all of us are works in progress and that personal growth is a lifelong process that doesn't just begin and end while you're seeing a therapist. I look forward to hearing from you when you're ready to begin!

My focus

I enjoy working with motivated, insightful people who desire to grow and learn new ways of thinking. I also meet hesitant or even resistant individuals right where they are and find the process of gaining trust over time to be very rewarding. My approach

My first goal in working with a new client is to make you feel heard, understood without judgment, and truly cared for! I know that it can take time to build trust with a stranger, so I do my best to provide a space where you can feel safe enough to allow yourself to be vulnerable.

My communication style

I am an active and empathetic listener who will do my best to make sure I understand where you are coming from and clarify meaning when necessary. I allow space for the client to bring whatever they want to discuss to the session while also intentionally redirecting conversation and questioning towards our goals when needed.

My journey to mental healthcare

I believe that I'm called to work in the mental health and social work field by God and thus take this work very seriously. I've experienced brokenness in various forms and understand the necessity for having a healthy outlet and support system to get through difficult seasons of life, having gone through many myself.

My goals for you

Setting clear goals and expectations for our time together helps to ensure that you get what you hope to get from therapy. Goals can be flexible and often shift over time, and I like to check in with my clients to gain their perspective on their progress while sharing my observations as well. I can shift our focus or session structure as needed.
