My journey to mental healthcare

What attracted me to be a therapist was the involvement I experienced in high school with my school counselor. She would spend time talking to me and my friends about issues we dealt with, trying to get along with each other and issues at home, and she gave us a platform to talk about things and made us feel like our thoughts and feelings mattered.

Our first session

During the initial sessions, clients should expect a psychosocial assessment, which includes discussing general info about home, school, support system, hobbies, goals of therapy, current symptoms, medical and behavioral health history, medication list, alcohol and drug history, sleep and appetite routine, and the reason for seeking therapy.
