My communication style

I have a very open and transparent communication style. I’m huge on being present in the moment, making eye contact, and exhibiting true regard and concern because I really do care about your growth. I use humor as a way to connect as well. I will also challenge you when necessary, but do so with an exorbitant amount of love.

My journey to mental healthcare

So I could say the fancy stuff, but in reality, I was a CNA first because I wanted to understand basic human needs before I could journey into mental health. I also have some lived experiences that bring a different lens to the therapist's chair. I often say I am from the other side of the tracks. Nothing will scare me, I promise you.

My goals for you

So goal attainment is absolutely a journey and a partnership. First, we have to understand what you’re overarching goal is, and then we can break those down into smaller steps. I use S.M.A.R.T., which is a method I will further explain. We will also review progress toward goals at certain intervals to modify or complete the goal altogether.

Our first session

So, the first thing you will see is my big, warm, and welcoming smile. I think that sets the tone. I do anticipate some level of discomfort and anxiety because I am a stranger, but you will become more comfortable. We will do all the formality stuff like reviewing session expectations and policy, then reviewing your symptomology and life history.
