Hi there, I'm Melissa!

I have been a fully licensed therapist for four years and a school counselor for nine years. I have worked with a variety of clients, and my goal is to help you function as a whole person, at work, school, in relationships, and in your everyday life.

My focus

In order to effectively support you, I want to understand the scope of your personal history. Important events, specific triggers, and history, all of these details help me create a specific plan geared towards you. I will assign homework or coping skills practice when I feel like it will be beneficial.

My approach

I take a client - centered approach when it comes to treatment. Therapy is a collaboration between you and me. I listen to your goals and where you want to go, and I tailor the modality to fit your specific needs and adjust accordingly to you.

My communication style

My communication style is supportive and encouraging. I am also inquisitive and ask specific questions to get to the heart of what is going on, to try and find patterns in your behavior or from your past, to help you with where you want to go

My journey to mental healthcare

Since I was a young girl, I knew I wanted to help others. As I grew up and went to college, through volunteering in communities, traveling abroad, and learning more about people of all walks of life, I learned that this looked like becoming a school counselor and a therapist. I wanted to channel my care for others into these careers.

My goals for you

I help clients reach their goals by understanding them as a whole person. Their strengths, weakness and aspirations. I also assign very specific homework and collaborate with you to create goals that are specific and achievable. The more specific your goals are, the easier it is to measure progress and to keep working towards them.

Our first session

A first session with me is all about understanding you, your history, and your goals. I ask a lot of questions and want to hear your story. Then we fine-tune specific goals you want to achieve and also the timeframe you are looking at.
