My communication style

My communication is direct but polite. I will pay attention to body language and non-verbal cues to identify how my client is responding to what I'm saying, and change course if my message is not understood. I like to use role-plays in session so clients can act out how they will really feel when they are trying out new skills

My journey to mental healthcare

When I was growing up, my opinions and feelings were not respected, and I felt a lot of anger and sadness. I went through a devastating time when my partner was deployed to a war zone. After I was able to work through my anger, acknowledge my sadness, and learn how to communicate with my spouse, I decided that I wanted to help other people not struggle.

My goals for you

I help clients to identify their own SMART goals and challenge the barriers that keep them from achieving their goals. I use unconditional positive regard and believe that people genuinely want to live happy, peaceful lives.I work to understand what that life looks like for them and support them in their process

Our first session

I ask a laundry list of questions about a client's history, including past trauma, past experiences in therapy, and past successes. I ask about their thoughts going into therapy, what they hope to achieve in our sessions, and how they will know that therapy is working for them.
