My communication style

My communication style is about as real as they come. I'm open and honest, but can read a room (or a Zoom meeting, ha!) and know what is needed. I am told by friends, colleagues, and almost everyone I have worked with as a client that I am down to earth, gentle, tell it like it is, make people feel extremely comfortable.

My journey to mental healthcare

It's funny, at the age of four, my grandmother, who raised me since I was two years old, asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I responded, "A psychiatrist!" Who DOES that? Little did I know that advanced college-level chemistry and I would be fierce foes - nor do I have that "personality" that doctors may tend to take on.

My goals for you

In approaching goal setting with clients, I want each client to know one rule: I am not the boss here. I do work to build trust and a level of comfort, learning what therapy is about, etc. I am here as a teammate to help you achieve the goals you wish to achieve.

Our first session

The first session typically looks like a "getting to know you" session. It may come across as rather nosy, but bear with me, I don't make it painful, I promise. I will likely ask quite a few questions as to how you have been feeling emotionally lately, how long those symptoms have lasted, health-related questions, family history, and so on.
