Hi there, I'm Dr. Megan!

I am an Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) military veteran and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in brief, solution-focused /cognitive behavioral therapy.

My focus

I specialize in EMS/Fire Department/Police and military patients, and have been embedded with some of our nation's greatest search and rescue teams on the ground during operations. I also assist couples working through communication and boundary issues. Aside from these populations, I am comfortable working with anyone who needs help.

My approach

My approach is unconditional positive regard with firm but gentle explorations of maladaptive patterns. I do not judge, and there is no issue that you can bring that I will not be prepared for.

My communication style

My tone is best described as "tough love" and although I am very gentle, I do not waste our time together. If patterns emerge and those patterns are causing you to be less functional at work, family, in relationships, or in caring for yourself, then I will ask permission to share those, and we will process them together.

My journey to mental healthcare

Being a psychologist allows me to be a therapist and perform psychological evaluations. I love being a therapist, specifically for the "lightbulb" moments where a patient begins to see their patterns and how to change them. I do not fix anyone's problems, but I love seeing a patient fix their own and feel empowered doing so.

My goals for you

I ask the patient what they believe their three biggest issues are and to rank them in order of most severe to least severe, and then work backwards on which behaviors need to be adjusted using CBT.

Our first session

The first session is a lot of information gathering, but it also gives us a chance to see if we vibe. I try to set expectations as far as tone and boundaries, and ask the patient to do the same. My job is to get you off my calendar, not keep you in therapy.
