My communication style

I think that open communication is very important in the therapy process. I am very conversational because it is important to have rapport with a therapist. I do not think that lectures add to that feeling of being on the same team. The only thing I ask for is honesty.

My journey to mental healthcare

I came to mental health services later in life. I was an English major when I first went to college, and I love writing. My second attempt at higher learning was in the nursing program. I knew I wanted to make a difference and ease suffering but to be honest, I do not like to watch people die.

My goals for you

I believe that setting realistic goals is very important. Understanding how to translate those goals into actionable steps is a big part of achieving them. Often, in therapy, it is difficult to see the options and steps. I like to think I am able to help clarify those desires and take them from the abstract to the concrete.

Our first session

Initial sessions can be stressful. I try to make the process as painless as possible. I listen, ask questions, and bring my genuine authentic self to every session, not just the first.
