Hi there, I'm Aaron!
Aloha ē. I live on Moloka'i as a cultural mental health counselor and have been in health care since 1994. I adapt evidence-based practices to each person’s culture and faith/spirituality. This way, therapy makes sense, and it doesn't feel like you have to change just to get therapy.
My focus
I primarily work with trauma, whether from childhood abuse or combat. I also work extensively with depression, anxiety, dissociative disorders, life adjustments, couples' problems, family disputes, and cultural adjustments. If you’ve been dealing with something stubborn, I like a good challenge. Don’t hesitate to schedule.
My approach
My approach is eclectic and is often CBT, but it all falls under the umbrella of Cultural Psychology. I usually focus on empowerment first, teaching you tools to address life issues now and in the future. Then we focus on refining things so you ultimately don’t need a counselor. I will be your advocate and healing companion.
