My communication style

My communication style is one where I strive to create an environment where the client feels safe and accepted. I truly accept my clients and want nothing but the best from them. By creating this safe environment, clients are able to use the acceptance they receive to achieve the goals they desire.

My journey to mental healthcare

Being a therapist is actually my second career. My first love was music, and I spent time as a middle school music teacher. During this time, I started to see how much mental health has to do with the education of my students and with society as a whole. This compelled me to go back to school and get my master's in social work.

My goals for you

I have a collaborative approach to goal setting. This means that I take the client's goals for therapy and translate them into specific objectives that allow us to create a picture of what the client is trying to achieve. This allows both the client and myself to have an image of what they are trying to accomplish and also know when we get there.

Our first session

During the first session with me, I spend time creating an environment in which the client feels comfortable. I explain the therapy process and try to get the client an idea of what to expect in therapy. Then I go about doing an assessment and explore with the client the goals that they desire to achieve.
