My communication style

I believe in letting the conversation grow organically with directive questions. I do not force answers, but I will ask pointed questions that may open a better dialogue. I feel therapy should be safe and inviting, creating an environment of acceptance where you can explore what matters most.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was hooked the moment I opened my first psych book. I understood my family dynamics for the first time. That knowledge helped me support my children through profound loss. I have found nothing more rewarding than having the skills to help others get through their most difficult challenges as well.

My goals for you

I will detect a change in emotion or language, and that is where I begin asking questions. Big and overwhelming goals will never be resolved, so I break them down into doable pieces. With each completion, there is a sense of accomplishment. I respect your goals and offer alternatives that might support your end goal.

Our first session

A first session with me would be a getting-to-know-you. Listening to your wants and goals, and making sure this relationship is a good fit for us both. I would ask a little about your background and relationships, but would primarily seek out reasons for therapy now and the current concerns
